The Latest – edition 1.1
Lately, everyone has been asking us, “What have you been up to?” and “What are you doing?” and “Who are you?”, so we thought we would give you some idea here in our online home. You’ll be happy to know that all is going really well for us right now. Here is The Latest.
We finished up the summer with a memorable concert at Rick’s American Cafe in Barnegat Light, Long Beach Island, NJ on August 24th. It was amazing to be able to play in front of so many old friends and family to close out our summer set of dates. We even got a write-up in the local newspaper, The Sandpaper, to make it feel that much more official. (See a copy of the article directly below this story.) We hope that we get to play Rick’s every summer because, I don’t know, something just felt good about it. It felt especially good when we discovered the venue had no PA and we had to rely on our friend Kenny to let us use his! Thank you so much, Kenny.
Since then and throughout the next 4 months, we’ll be in our rehearsal space that we set up as a recording studio. We’re busy hashing out and recording tracks that will go on our first feature length album, tentatively entitled, Learn from Your Friends. The album is due for release in February 2008.
What has been really exciting about the recording process this time around is that it looks like we’re going to be working with 1 – 2 producers for the album. Having a highly qualified someone outside the group to look at everything we have and to make suggestions for what should go where and why has already made a huge difference for us musically. We’ll keep you posted throughout the process with stories, photos and video clips of our sessions.
Since we’ll be recording for most of the year, we’re only going to play live about once per month in New York City. We hope that, along with the release of Learn, we’ll be able to set up a string of shows for the east coast come springtime. Please know that we truly appreciate all your support over these 2 inaugural years. We feel that we’ve made a lot of progress and so much of that is due to your support. So, thank you. We hope that the new album will reflect that back to you.
Our next show is at Crash Mansion on Friday September 21st and then one at Pianos on Thursday October 11th. Hope to see all of you there and thank you again for everything. Until then…
